Our own farm is based in Raigad District Maharashtra. It is 2.2 acre plot of land on which we currently grow 2 crops of Koshi / Omachi seeds per year. We are now working on a metholodgy which will enable us to grow 3 crops per year.
Aside from producing these seeds using traditional soil based farming, we are now introducing Hydroponic and Aquaponic techniques to grow other items like Japanese Greens and Wasabi Leaves.

We first plant the Omachi seeds in seed trays to allow them to sprout in a controlled environment
As our farm is on a hillside we prepare small plots in which the Omachi crop will be transplanted to
Having done this we then flood the plots with water prior to transplanting
Finally, we transplant the Omachi seedlings which have grown in the seed trays and our huge ferocious Rice Guard Dog vigilantly stands guard over the seedlings
Time passes, it is now April and the crop is coming to maturity. It will be harvested in May
Contract Farming
We work with other farmers to whom we provide Seeds and correct technology to produce Koshi crops for us. We fund land rental and hire contract labour which are supervised by us to ensure quality crops.
We will soon be expanding this for our Omachi Rice, Japanese Greens, Wasabi and other exciting crops
Below are pictures of a contract farm which grows Koshihikari for us
As we have done on our farm, we have taught our contract farmers to use seed trays
They then transplant the seedlings into a flooded field. The seedlings are spaced around 9 inches apart to permit growth hence, at this stage, the field looks pretty bare
A few months pass and the Koshihikari is growing nicely
Our proud Contract Farmer now show the Koshihikari he has grown for us
